Our Writers

……..are awesome.

Amie Kus Curie: Amie is a lawyer, wife, homeowner, smart-ass, judgmental jerk, and alliteration aficionado. She can be found walking from Pilsen to the Loop and back listening to showtunes, camped out in front of her television to unwind and feel better about herself by watching utter crap, and blogging at the self-deprecating If You Seek Amie.

Amy (a.k.a. Going to Germany): Amy once went to Germany and used to talk about her trip (and other things) so much that her friends would interrupt her current monologue and ask if she was going to Germany — again. In addition to flapping her jaws and thinking too much, she can be found with a book, pen, guitar, camera, chef’s knife, mug of something or a small hand in her hand. But not all at once because she’s not an octopus. Read all about how her brain malfunctions on a daily basis and somehow she still manages to make an appearance while trying to make sense of it all. Read more at Going to Germany.

Anonymnurse: She’s a mom to two girls (13 and 21), three dogs and two cats. She’s a surgical nurse a wife just looking for something to do during football season. She spends most days wondering, “What if I really WAS meant to be a saucy wench?” Read more on her blog, Nurse Tracy.

Aurore Labenheim: Aurore is a glutton by choice and never for punishment. Food is a passion for this French gal; it runs in her blood. Not diabetes or bad cholesterol though – she has good genes and will last a while on the job – no worries. When she’s not eating, she’s writing (read her Crosswor[l]ds stories on www.aurorecrosswords.com), translating, running, reading, grows ingredients for her own salsa, snapping pictures on the street and making jewelry. She dreams of a long journey in South America to perfect her Spanish and her dancing skills, and get natural highlights.

Bea: Once, when Bea was a kid she ran away with only three Chips Ahoy cookies and a coloring book. She returned shortly after. Twenty-some years later, its the same story: big dreams and poor planning. Now in Chicago, Bea blogs well about dating badly. Catch her over at The Engagement Project.

Becky Harks: Aunt Becky is a special person who does special things like work the microwave and make coffee. She also raises three kids and pollutes the Internet from her blog six days a week while basking in her own specialness. Sometimes she listens to Rod Stewart because he is special, too.

Dashing Gray: Dashing Gray is a 20-something lifelong learner who works in higher education and embraces her semi-yuppie, child-free life. Recently engaged to a wonderful black man, she spends way too much time in coffee shops drinking high-calorie espresso drinks and blogging out the many questions of life and weddings. Because life is never just black and white, learn about her adventures navigating — and embracing — The Beauty of Gray.

Fabulously Awkward: She may be buttoned up 9 to 5 as a legal eagle, but this quirky-crazy-almost-cat-lady squawks poetic about the nutty nest she calls life. Writer of words, flutterer with birds, fly or fall, she writes it all at likeabirdie.blogspot.com.

The Faux Trixie: The Faux Trixie is an almost-30-something practicing attorney living in Chicago.  Often pegged as a typical Trixie, you’ll find that she’s the exact opposite, loving sarcastic quips more than designer handbags.  While most things annoy her, she enjoys writing, imbibing, good times with friends, and the occasional celebrity scandal.  You can find her snarky commentary on almost everything at The Faux Trixie.

Garima: Garima tries to live it up! She is always trying to find a balance in life: with family, with work, with fun and with life in general! She gets that its a very fine line, but still tip toeing on it is a bit hard. On a day to day basis she does everything possible to have her sanity intact including writing about it at It’s a Start. She has MS in Engineering and has years of experience in Project, Product Management and Quality Management.

Jeff Tobin: Jeff Tobin has been writing about sports, comedy and miscellaneous fictional and nonfictional topics for years. Jeff Tobin appreciates when he can write in third person. His family and most of his friends adore him.

Jonathan Panozzo (a.k.a. Ze-kun): Jonathan makes a living in IT in the Windy City, and couldn’t think of living anywhere else.  He blogs under the name Zel-kun at zelkun.com about technology and life in general.  When not working on computers, he can be found sitting in his study with a book or a game, and sometimes both.

Lauren (a.k.a. The Newtritionista): Lauren was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. After earning her bachelor’s from Indiana University, she jumped right into the advertising industry and is currently employed at a New York-based ad network. Lauren is all about having a good time: going out on the town, attending social events, laughing, chatting, and living the dream of a 20something year old just trying to figure it all out! You can find her at newtritionblog.com.

Lauren Navratil: A divorced mom of a four-year-old boy, Lauren Navratil avoids proper exercise and housekeeping by filling her time with commendable substitutes: tee-ball, blogging, human resources management, freelance writing, web-presence consulting, Internet start-ups, a long distance relationship, reading, day dreaming, tweeting and facebooking.  Lauren has a lot on her plate — and a lot of awesome inspiration.  You can get  caught up on her life at My Life, Incomplete, where she writes about life, loving, leaving, laughing and lessons learned — proving that divorce does not have to mean “my life, over.”

Lindsay: Lindsay writes about food. She does not write about eating her feelings. She enjoys reality TV, people watching and puppies. She sometimes eats dessert for dinner. Don’t miss a meal at Diet Starts Tomorrow.

Maureen Lipinski: Maureen is the author of A Bump in the Road and Not Ready for Mom Jeans. She lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, son, demented dog and morbidly obese cats. Her website can be found here.

Melanie Myatt: Melanie stills feel like a child inside, even though she now finds herself the mother of four kids.  Her student husband has promised that life will get easier when he is done with school, but she isn’t holding her breath. In spite of two master’s degrees, she’s somehow never had a real job.  Nevertheless, she dreams of the day when she can be . . . something.  For now, she spends her days folding laundry, cooking, eating, cleaning up, wiping noses, changing diapers, and re-reading countless children’s books.  When she can, she tries to find time for some grown-up types of thoughts to record at tales from the crib.

Paige Worthy: Paige Worthy — yes, that’s her real name — writes in Chicago. A refreshing blend of New York sass and Midwest sweet, she was blogging before everyone was doing it, eating obsessively before “foodie” was a thing, and overanalyzing life and love long before Carrie Bradshaw made it sexy. Love her as much as she loves you? Read more at paigeworthy.com.

Renee Cohn: Renee is a writer, educator, wife and momma living in northwest Indiana, just outside of Chicago. Because she’s originally from upstate New York, she pronounce garage “gradge,” coupon “cyoupon” and syrup “sirrup.” She blogs about pop culture and feminism at 2000 Irises.

She’s All Write: When she’s not making media social for a Fortune 50 company, she’s missing her son, who’s in college; running; doing yoga; imagining; looking for ways to bring her imaginings to life; training for crazy endurance events; raising money for AIDS charities; singing; trying to make music; loving her friends; and of course, writing.

Stacey Zisook Robinson: Stacey is a single mom, looking for God and grace and a perfect cup of coffee. She’s on a quest for the stuff that matters.  On a good day — and sometimes on a bad one — she tries simply to show up, breathe and remember she doesn’t have to do it alone.  It’s all on her blog.

Uncorked V: V is a late twenty-something single, hardworking mother of pugs living on the far north side of the city.  An attorney by day and a writer/reader/witty-one-liner-giver by night.  She’ll belly up to the bar with anyone and writes to prove it at Uncorked, her personal blog.  V chooses to be anonymous because she talks a lot of crap.  Cheers.
